Weight Loss And Apples And Pears
These days obesity and being overweight has reached wide-ranging proportions. It is no question that so many folks want to lose weight. There are many reasons to lose weight from the visual reasons, like looking good to appeal to a mate or to fit in those cool jeans to what is almost certainly the most significant reason and that is for excellent health.
We all carry our additional fat a little differently. One individual may have thunder thighs with a sizeable butt and a smaller upper body so she is shaped like a pear, while the next person will carry it all around the middle, in the abdominal region so that she is shaped more like an apple on a stick. The way we carry our body fat contributes greatly to our good health.
If you are shaped like a pear you have a distinct health advantage over the folks who are shaped like an apple. You may have more tribulations in getting clothes that fit and you may have body image issues but your health is not really too much as risk. Opposite to that the people who hold their fat in their bellies are at danger for significant health problems.
On the other hand the fat that accumulates around the mid section puts the person at risk for such things as heart disease, diabetes and other health risks. The difficulty is that the fat in the middle collects around the internal organs. This prevents their organs and their bodies from optimal function. Pear-shaped individuals do not have this same problem because none of the inside organs are found in the butt and thighs.
To find out is you are an apple-shape or a pear-shape you will need to total the ratio of your waist to hips. Divide your waist measurement in inches by your hip measurement in inches. If the resultant ratio is 0.8 or more you are shaped like an apple, but if it is more than 0.8 or less then you are shaped like a pear. An example would be a 28-inch waist divided by a 38-inch hip gives a ratio of 0.73 or a pear-shape while that same hip measurement combined with a 32-inch waist is a 0.84 or an apple shape.
A pear may have body image issues and she may fight with her body type but she is not really facing serious health risks, which is not the case for an apple-shaped individual. If you are apple-shaped it is much more vital that you drop the weight. Try increasing your cardio exercises and focus on consuming a fiber-rich diet with more fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes and lean protein sources such as fish and skinless chicken.
If you are an apple shape however, you do have an advantage in the weight loss department. Excess fat around your core region tends to come off much sooner and easier than the fat in the butt and thighs. Butt and thigh fat is much more stubborn and it takes much more diligence to get it to finally come off.
The type of body that you have is not something that you can control but you can do whatever is essential to lose the excess fat or even better, of course, is to not gain it in the first place.
