Masai Mara: The Top Luxurious Lodges
Masai Mara is home to the New Seven Wonder of the World, the great Wildebeest Migration. The national reserve attracts a lot of tourists and this in turn has made a number of lodges and camps to be built here to accommodate these visitors. The first lodge to consider is the Royal Mara safari luxury lodge that is found near the 2 crossing points for the wildebeests on the Mara river. The lodge is also near the Leopard Gorge where the Big Cat documentary series produced by the BBC is shot. Tourist are able to see the “Big Five” wild animals as well as other wild animal species.

The Mara Serena Safari Lodge is tucked atop a hill, to ensure its guests have the best view of Maasai Mara plains. To blend in with the neighboring Maasai culture, it’s modeled after their mud huts and embellished with their cultural artifacts, but still retains a touch of modern sophistication. From the lodge visitors can witness the wildebeest migration unfolding or view other wild animals. Birders get to see some of the 500 bird species resident. Each individual room has a balcony that accentuates the view of the wild animals’ at their watering hole.
The 84 roomed Mara Simba Lodge was conceived both as a Safari and cultural lodge. It’s designed the Maasai tribe way to allow and tourists get cosy the Maasai style. Its lush landscaped gardens with colorful birds and butterflies border the Talek River. The lodge also operates luxury tents to ease viewing of wildlife and nature.
Its interesting to note that Mara Simba lodge is one of the few lodges in Kenya that have a waste treatment facility within its confines. When it comes to dining, vegetarian and non vegetarian diets are on offer. Guests can also get drinks from the restaurants. Activities guests that can engage in include hot air balloons, bush dinners or even go on nature walks.
The other lodge to consider is the Masai Mara Sopa lodge, one of the oldest lodges built in the Masai Mara. At the lodge, visitors can view wild game at ease in the reserve including the flora and fauna.
Keekorok lodge is the last lodge we are going to look at. This lodge prides itself as being the first lodge that was built on the Masai Mara. It also boasts as lying right on the path of the wildebeest migration. This is very advantageous to the guest because they can see the migration as it goes along right from the lodge itself without the need of going for a game drive. Be warned because the lodge is not fenced and animals can walk right in. Activities that one can engage in include bush dinners, walking safaris plus a host of other activities.
