After that the video stores came out but there you had to go over there and try to find your movie, it was over and over again out of stock and if you didn’t get it back on time you had to pay a late fee. Now you can get films by mail but you still have to wait.
Far and Away - A scrappy Irish tenant farmer hooks up, in uncertain style, with the equally feisty daughter of a wealthy landowner, and together they journey to America to look for their final destiny in the’93 Oklahoma land rush. Exceptional platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both beautiful and involving; the trouble is a severe lack of good dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Cast includes Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, Cohn Meaney, and Rance Howard. (140 minutes,’92)
Above the Law - This is Steven Segal’s breakout movie. He plays a Chicago Cop who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is ‘above the law’. He uses his large body and martial arts skills to wreak disorder on the bad guys. Stars include Steven Segal, Pam Grier, and Sharon Stone. (1988 Action)
Say It Isn’t So - Pleasantly un-ambitious Klein falls for the new hairdresser in town Graham. They have consensual sex and then Klein finds out that Graham is his sister. It is a absolute flop. Cast includes Heather Graham, Chris Klein, Orlando Jones, Sally Field, Richard Jenkins, John Rothman, Brent Briscoe, and Sarah Silverman. (96 minutes,’88)
The In Laws - Everybody can relate to this uneasy situation. The in laws are coming and you just have to survive. Don’t try this at home! Unrated version runs 93. Cast includes Peter Falk, Alan Arkin, Richard Libertini, and Nancy Dussault. (103 minutes,’64)
Cuba Crossing - Our lead man Stuart Whitman becomes involved in a conspiracy to take out Fidel Castro. Filmed in Key West, Florida, and at minimum the landscape is beautiful. Cast includes Stuart Whitman, Robert Vaughn, Caren Kaye, Raymond St. Jacques, Woody Strode, Sybil Danning, Albert Salmi, and Michael Gazzo. (90 minutes,’80)
Clue - Silly and insipid thriller based on the fashionable board game of the same name with all the familiar characters Mrs. Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Miss Red, et al. gathered for a murderous day in a Victorian mansion. Everyone tries extremely hard but there is nothing they can do to save this weak film. Cast includes Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Ponder, and Howard Hesseman. (87 minutes,’85)
