Advantages of Studying a Speed Reading Program

by Lauryn Makayla

Using a pacer while reading will help you to eliminate one of the main course of slow reading, that being that when we are taught to read we are told to read with our ears not our eyes. Well what happens with a lot of people is they grow up and stop reading out loud but still feel they have to sound out all the words in there head to get an understanding of what they are reading. Again a good solution to these issues is to use a pacer. Using a pacer while speed reading as well as helping to stop theses two issues from slowing you down, will also help you remember more of what you read. Doing this will help you remember what you read more easily because of how the brain links senses with memories, which helps make it easier for you to recall them later.

How many emails can you read in one minute? Imagine if you had a tool that will help you in reducing the time spent on all these activities. You can practice some simple techniques daily that will improve your reading speed. The underlying principle of speed reading is to train the eye to move faster across the texts. Try to read faster than the speed of the pointer. Practice this technique about three to four times a day. If you are not used to reading business reports, you can apply this while reading a newspaper.

Speed reading programs will teach you the art of reading fast but how fast? People who read for leisure can read more books, articles and magazines and have more free time to spend with family but is it possible to double your reading speed? The average person reads between 200 to 400 words per minute and learning this skill can double and even sometimes triple that average. The only thing that will stop you from doubling your speed is not putting in the time to learn how to speed read.

The best way to find these exercises is to complete a speed reading course. One of the main issues that slows readers down is called regression. This happens for many reasons with the most common being lack of understanding. One of the biggest causes of slow reading happens when we are reading something that does not stimulate you or is generally boring material.

The typical person reads about 200-400 words per minute and most speed reading courses will allow you to at least triple that reading speed, but will a course teach you dynamic comprehension? If you have ever experienced that feeling then you most likely experienced dynamic comprehension. Having said that, can learning how to speed read really help you develop good comprehension? The answer is yes. When you became a better reader the teacher told you to read silently and this foundation that causes many people to individually read and record each word in your mind. If you can not intake new material as fast as your mind operates then comprehension and concentration will suffer.
